Nottingham is an amazing city in so many ways and the Festival of Nottingham will be a celebration of all it has to offer. We plan to get the attention we deserve on the national and even international stage though a comprehensive communications strategy with social media at the heart.
The festival will focus on both existing and new events and will become an annual fixture on Nottingham’s calendar. We are delighted to have support from so many areas including the arts, business, education and local government. Offers of involvement are arriving on a daily basis and we are becoming increasingly excited about the end result.
Two key brand new areas will be a music festival and a talent search, which are shaping up to be brilliant. We also hope to include as many people as possible, making this something the city can feel belongs to everyone, bringing together the very diversity that makes it so special.
The idea came from a successful attempt in July to use the social media website Twitter to “Get Nottingham Trending” (or being one of the top discussion subjects, to the uninitiated). Thousands of people made comments on what they loved about the city.
So let’s all look forward to a great October.
